Mudguards saved my bike

I wrote last winter about the joy of mudguards (http://www.roadcyclinguk.com/bike-reviews/the-joy-of-mudguards/2898.html), which came about after the timely realisation that their benefits just about outweigh my aesthetic concerns.

There is now a new way for the rider wanting mud guards however, and it couldn’t have come any sooner. A certain Pete Tomkins, the brains behind the famous Crud Catcher, has given us mudguard hating cyclists the perfect product.

Now, the traditional view that you need a specific winter riding bike complete with concessions for full length mudguards can be through whole heartedly out of the living room window. Instead, the Roadracer ‘guards are slim lightweight affairs that can be fixed to your standard road bike. Hallelujah I say!

Yes, critics will point to the fact all that salt and grit will cause wear and tear to your road bike, which is a concern if it’s your only bike. But that’s precisely the beauty, if you only have one road bike, if you only can afford one bike or don’t have space for a specific winter bike; these new mudguards are the answer.
