Eurobike 2012: taming the beast

More than 43,000 industry visitors from 97 countries, plus an additional 20,500 cycling fans on Saturday’s public day, attended the 21st Eurobike show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, last week.

We were among the 1,889 journalists from 42 countries at the show to bring you a hand-picked selection of the 366 product premieres (you can find our Eurobike coverage here).

We’re now back at RoadCyclingUK HQ nursing sore feet from working the Friedrichshafen Messe halls and with aching backs from crouching down to snap all those new products. We’ve got a stack more Eurobike content to come all this week so keep an eye on RCUK.

Eurobike is the cycling industry’s biggest trade show by some margin and 1,347 bike brands gathered in the 15 exhibitions halls, each the size of an aircraft hanger. In short, it’s massive.

How massive? The team at Dirt, our downhill mountain biking sister-site, strapped a Go-Pro to tea boy Ben Winder to give you an idea of the sheer size of the place. Ben only managed to visit three of the halls before heading back to the media centre to neck an energy drink and rest his weary legs. Besides, we’d be here all day if he took you around all 15 halls…
