Blaze launch 100-lumen Burner rear light

New rear light launches on Kickstarter

Blaze have launched a crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter for a new 100-lumen rear light, the Burner.

Blaze was born on Kickstarter three years ago, with the launch of the Laserlight, an innovative front light which, as well as offering a 300-lumen LED output, uses a laser to project a bike symbol six metres in front of the rider in order to try and prevent traffic incidents where a driver manoeuvres into the rider’s path.

And the brand has opted to return to the crowd-funding site for the launch of the Burner to give riders the chance to own the rear light first, at a discounted rate, and offer feedback into the final features.

The campaign will run for one month, and cyclists pledging £30 will receive the first orders – a discount of nearly 40 per cent on the £49 RRP.

Weighing in at a claimed 100g, the light is made from ‘aircraft-grade aluminium’, and is rated IP07 for waterproofing – meaning it will protect from water ingress up to one meter.

Blaze have used 24 LEDs to put out up to 100 lumens, making it one of the brightest rear lights out there, and with an intelligent light sensor ensuring the light works automatically in the dark. The light is said to offer more than 180-degree visibility, and a clever magnetic snap bracket is claimed to offer a wide range of adjustability.

Blaze claim the battery life of the light, which is USB or magnetic pin rechargeable, will be approximately one month with standard urban usage.

Founder and CEO Emily Brooke added: “The Burner has been the result of three years of hard work, countless prototypes and rigorous testing, to create something elegantly simple.

“We are so proud of the Laserlight and have learned so much in its development and delivery; we wanted a back light to match it.

“We believe we’ve thought of everything with this light, yet obsessed to keep things uncomplicated.  Concisely, it’s a no fuss, beautifully stylish back light, for every cyclist.”
