Thinking about heading to the London Bike Show? Here are five reasons why you should

The London Bike Show kicks off at the Excel Centre on Thursday – and RoadCyclingUK readers can get ten per cent off tickets on the London Bike Show website by using the code RCUK.

We’ve already previewed seven must see bikes at the show, including the Cervelo C5, the Specialized Venge ViAS and Boardman Air 9.9.

If you still need convincing, here are five reasons to head down between Thursday and Sunday.

Big name guest speakers

Sir Chris Hoy, Chris Boardman and Mark Beaumont are among the big name guest speakers confirmed for the show. If you want to know what it takes to win Olympic gold, how it feels to wear the Tour de France yellow jersey or how to ride around the world, then check out the Cycling Performance Theatre schedule. Other speakers lined up include former England footballer turned charity cyclist Geoff Thomas and mountain bike legend Martyn Ashton.

Discover the latest technology

As well as Cervelo, Specialized and Boardman, other bike brands who will exhibit their latest wares at the London Bike Show include Cube, Focus, Cannondale, Enigma, Orro, Rose, Kinesis, Van Nicholas, Wilier. If you’re thinking about buying a bike in 2016, then the London Bike Show is your shop floor. Away from bikes, Vulpine, X-Bionic, Wattbike, Brooks, Fizik and Mavic are all confirmed for the show, while if you’re planning a cycling holiday, there will be information on riding in destinations including Majorca, Switzerland, Tenerife, Cyprus, Cuba, Malta and more.

Take part in a race

If looking at all the bikes on offer leaves you desperate to scratch the itch to race, then the Street Velodrome will be at hand to let you strut your stuff on two wheels. It’s free and you’ll be given everything that’s needed to get you racing. Street Velodrome sets you the task of being the fastest rider over its two banked sections and two straights. On Saturday, there will also be a kids series for the next Hoy, Wiggins or Froome.

Visit the Performance Training Hub

Returning once again to The London Bike Show is the Surrey Human Performance Institute, allowing show visitors to take in a two hour fitness assessment, which will include information like body composition, nutritional state and cycling technique thanks to a range of tests.

It’s not just the London Bike Show

Despite all that, if you find yourself at a loose end during the London Bike Show, then your ticket also grants you access to both Triathlon Show: London and The Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show, both also being held at the Excel from February 11-14.

And remember, you can get ten per cent off advanced tickets by using the code RCUK on the London Bike Show website.
