Wacky Australian luggage and lights manufacturer Knog has branched out into multitools with the release of three models. They’re called Tool 7, Tool 12 and Tool 20 – if you think really hard you may be able to guess how many individual tools each Tool includes.

The actual Allen keys and bits are made of chrome-vanadium steel and hinge out of a forged aluminium clamshell case, which is rather neat. The lid is anodised black on the 7, red on the 12 and blue on the 20. All three are 50mm square but of different depths depending on how many tools they have to cram into themselves.

The Tool 7 carries a bare-minimum selection of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6mm Allen keys and a Philips screwdriver. The 12 adds 2.5 and 8mm Allen keys, T25 Torx bit, flat-head screwdriver and 15mm spanner to the roster, while the 20 is fully loaded with all of that plus 8, 10 and 13mm spanners, four spoke keys and a chain tool. Inevitably, they’ve all got bottle openers too.

Knog’s always good for a bit of press release comedy, and the supplied information for the Tool is no exception. Knog’s description of itself as being “all about enhancing your smarts in an underground, organic, didn’t-really-have-to-try sort of way” gives you some idea. And apparently the Tool could not only fix your bike but also “lead to everlasting love”:

“We don’t need to spell it out. But say you’re a guy and you have a TOOL and you happen upon the distressed hottie. You help her out. You take her home. She loves you; you love her. OR you’re a girl (wielding the TOOL)…and you come across boy standing next to bike. Girl whips out TOOL 20. Need we say more? Boy falls in love because this chick totally gets it!”
