Spiuk Daggon helmet First Look

Spiuk Daggon helmet

Introduced in 2008 and tested by Continental pros from the AG2R and Agritubel teams, the Daggon was designed by Spiuk to offer “an aggressive and contemporary look”. That it does, its sharp lines and 27 vents combining to produce a visual effect entirely in line with current trends. The effectiveness of the ventialtion arrangements is in no doubt after a ride in the recent cold conditions.

The expanded polystyrene in-moulded inner structure incorporates an internal frame or net of “high-performance polymer” that adds tensile strength to the polystyrene to prevent it breaking apart on impact.  The shell has carbon-fibre reinforcements that further enhance the impact-resistance of the helmet.

The curvature of the inside surface was formed following “detailed studies of anthropometry and cranial morphology”, meaning that it has some resemblance to the shape of the average human head. Having tightened the CompactFix retention system, the test rider found one minor pressure point on the forehead that was eased using thumb pressure. Otherwise, fit was excellent with the pads provided. The Daggon is available in two sizes, S-M to fit heads from 51cm to 57cm and M-L to fit 56cm to 61cm bods.

The soft-feel chainstrap has a simple release catch and the helmet also features an anti-insect mesh covering the front vents. Four colourways are on offer: White, Grey/Silver, Red/White and Blue/White.

Price for the Daggon is £110.00 and Spiuk offers a crash replacement scheme for the model where a damaged example can be returned for exchange for a new one at half price.
