IceBike is a new concept in bike shows, deriving its format from an offroad motorcycle show in the US called FrostBike. Set up for the trade, the idea is to bring together dealers, distributors and manufacturers for an excange of ideas and information. Every brand distributed by Madison Cycles was present, including Canadian frame and cycle manufacturer Cervelo. Star of the brand’s display was the R3 SL, which Cervelo’s Gerard Vroomen says is some 65g lighter than the standard R3 thanks to a reworking of the seat tube. Since the R3 itself is already too light for the UCI’s 6.8kg weight limit, the SL may not get to see much pro race action with Cervelo-sponsored Pro Tour Team CSC. It should prove popular with Continental Sportive entrants when it is back in stock at Madison.
