Philip Hindes to top bill at Revolution 3

Olympic gold medalist, Philip Hindes, will race tomorrow at the National Cycling Centre, Manchester, in the third round of the Revolution track series.

The German-born Brit, who moved to England aged 18 with his British father and German mother, raced to Olympic glory in the men’s team sprint last summer with Sir Chris Hoy and double gold medalist, Jason Kenny.

And Hindes, still just 20, will not be the only medalist from London 2012 in action on Saturday, when Revolution will form a double header with the national madison championships.

Germany’s Robert Forstemann, the rider with the most famous thighs in cycling, a bronze medalist at London 2012 in men’s team sprint, will race as part of an all-star line up with Team GB’s Matt Crampton and former double world junior team sprint champion, Dave Daniell.

Förstemann said: “It’s always a lot of fun for me to ride in Britain, and I’m really happy to begin my season in Manchester in 2013.”

Double Olympic champion, Ed Clancy, will race again in the colours of Rapha Condor JLT, the Revolution series leaders.

But Clancy and Rapha Condor JLT will be without the services of world champion, Andy Tennant, who has joined Madison-Genesis, and will race with James McCallum, a former national circuit race champion.

Ross Edgar, silver medalist in the 2008 Olympic keirin final, where he finished second to Sir Chris Hoy, will make his debut for Team IG Sigma Sport, for whom he will also race on the road in 2013.

Double British time trial champion, Alex Dowsett, newly-signed by the Movistar WorldTour team, will make a guest appearance for Team Sportscover having competed in early rounds of Revolution for Team Sky.

Revolution is sold out, but tickets are available on the door of the National Cycling Centre, Manchester, for the national madison championships, and cost £6 for adults and £3 for children.

There are limited VIP and full hospitality tickets available for Revolution Series Round 4 at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on February 2. Visit http://www.cyclingrevolution.com/hospitality.php.

Highlights from Revolution 3 will be shown by ITV4 at 8pm on Wednesday January 9. They will also be available on the ITV Player.
