Stephen Roche knows a thing or two about the Tour de France.

The Irishman won the race in 1987 in the most dramatic style, remaining in contention with one of the most dogged performances the Tour has seen on the Alpine slopes of La Plagne, before sealing victory on the penultimate stage time trial.
