Daniel Lloyd (Team IG-Sigma Sport) casts a professional eye over the challenges awaiting the riders on today’s 156km leg from Carlisle to Blackpool.
The route takes in Lancaster and the Lake District and finsihes in the shadow of Blackpool Tower. The race his visited Blackpool every year since 2007.
Former British road race champion, Roger Hammond, was the first British rider to win a stage of the Tour of Britain in Blackpool in 2005.
Today’s route could end with another bunch, unless a breakaway is successful. Will Team Sky’s Mark Cavendish add a second win to his tally in what could be his final race in the rainbow jersey of world road race champion?
