Vinokourov tests positive for blood transfusion |
L’Equipe reports that Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana) has tested positive for an homologous blood transfusion on the day of the Albi time trial last Saturday. His blood sample contained evidence of dual populations of red blood corpuscles, which indicates a transfusion.
The website also reports he underwent a further blood test following his win on stage 15 – the results of which are unknown to us at this time. It’s reported that the Astana team has withdrawn from the race.
