Commonwealth Games time trial champion Alex Dowsett joins a host of road racing stars on the track at the first round of the 2014/15 Revolution Series this weekend.

Dowsett will ride at the Lee Valley VeloPark in the two-day event, taking place on Friday October 24 and Saturday October 25, for the Telegraph All Stars team alongside Dutchman Wim Stroetinga.

And the Movistar rider, who wore the yellow jersey at last month’s Tour of Britain is just one of a number of big names set to hit the Olympic velodrome.

Ian Stannard and Ben Swift will pair up for Team Sky, meanwhile, and RideLondon winner Adam Blythe will race for NFTO alongside Sam Harrison.

Olympic track champions Ed Clancy (Rapha Condor-JLT) and Steven Burke (Haribo-Beacon) also race, while double European Championship gold medal winner Andy Tennant (Madison-Genesis) will look continue the form he showed in Guadeloupe.

They will all be going wheel-to-wheel across the weekend in the opening round of the Elite Championship on the Saturday, with the National Madison Championships setting the scene the day before.

Some of the biggest names in women’s cycling will also be in action over the weekend, including Marianne Vos and Laura Trott.

Organisers have also announced the debut of the ‘Marymoor Crawl’ for the elite endurance riders set for London, based on the event of the same name which features at the Marymoor Grand Prix in America.

Riders start on the finishing straight but can not touch wheels, put their foot down or cross the finishing line for four minutes before what will be a two-lap dash to the finish in London.

James Pope, from the Revolution organising committee hopes it will bring a bit of fun back to balance the serious racing on show in London.

He said: “I had never heard of the race before and came across the video online and loved it.

“It reminded me of the early seasons of Revolution where we used to do things like speed skaters verses cyclists, Hoy and Tournant in the Madison TT.

“These were always real crowd-pleasers so I thought replicating the Marymoor Crawl would bring a bit of fun back to the Revolution programme and balance the serious racing. So we are going to give it a go in London at round one.”

“It is going to be a real challenge for the pros to track stand for that long and not bump into each other. If the race works we’ll feature it at every round this season and maybe try to mix in some sprinters.”

Tickets for Round 1 in London are available on www.cyclingrevolution.com or by calling 0844 412 4650.
