Roman Kreuziger soloed to victory in this race last time out as he made his first year with Tinkoff-Saxo one to remember.
Since then the Czech rider has established himself as a loyal lieutenant to Alberto Contador, finishing third at the Tour de Suisse, fifth at the Tour de France and third at this year’s Tirreno-Adriatico along the way. His performances at Tirreno saw him make the early moves, before team leader Alberto Contador took over to charge to victory.
It was a role Kreuziger repeated at the Tour of the Basque Country last week, where he once again showed he has the legs to tame the lumpy terrain of the Amstel Gold Race for a second time.
