Milan-San Remo 2014: television schedule

Mark Cavendish bids for La Primavera success on Sunday

The first Monument Classic of the 2014 season takes place on Sunday (March 23), with British champion Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quickstep) among the leading contenders.

Cavendish, a winner in 2009, will lead the Belgian super team but must overcome intense competition for the first big one-day race of the season if he is to add a second victory in San Remo to his palmares.

Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing) will both be on the start line as they look to kick off their Classics season in perfect style and avenge their defeat to Gerald Ciolek (MTN-Qhubeka) last time out.

Ciolek will have other ideas, however. The German sprinter won in the most brutal conditions last year and will seek to bolster his palmares with a  second victory.

And British Eurosport will be showing the race live, with highlights available afterwards on both Eurosport and Sky Sports.
