Team pursuit gold medallists head stellar Revolution Series line-up

Great Britain’s European Championship gold medal-winning team pursuit stars will grace the first round of the 2013/14 Revolution Series in Manchester on Saturday October 26.

Both the men and women’s teams scooped gold in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, last weekend and every member of those squads have been announced as part of a stellar line-up to kick-start the 11th season of the Revolution Series.

Laura Trott, fresh from also bagging European omnium gold, will head a Wiggle Honda line-up boasting team pursuit gold medallists Joanna Rowsell, Dani King and Elinor Barker while Great Britain team mate Katie Archibald will ride for City of Edinburgh.

Ed Clancy, a star of last year’s Revolution Series, will again represent Rapha Condor JLT, while team pursuit team mates Owain Doull and Steven Burke will ride for TMG All Stars.

Andy Tennant, who told RCUK the series is vital preparation for next month’s UCI Track World Cup event, rides for Madison-Genesis and Jon Dibben, the fifth member of the gold medal-winning pursuit team will represent Team Sky with Luke Rowe.

With the Manchester round of the UCI World Cup to follow in November, it is a chance for Britain’s elite to get some competitive racing on their ‘home track’ in their legs.

Russian sprint king Dennis Dmitriev and Czech world points champion Jarmila Machacova will be among the foreign talent on show bidding to score some mental victories before the World Cup.

Rising stars Adam and Simon Yates, fresh from securing their road racing futures with Orica-GreenEDGE, also join an incredibly strong men’s elite endurance start list.

Olympic champions Jason Kenny and Phil Hindes and sprint queens Becky James and Jess Varnish will also compete on Saturday evening.

The event is the first of the 11th edition of the Revolution Series, which will also return to Manchester for rounds three and four on January 4 2014 and February 1.

Glasgow’s Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome hosts round two on November 30 while the Series will conclude at the Olympic Velodrome in the Lee Valley VeloPark in March.

As a UCI-sanctioned event, the Series offers riders the chance to grab crucial qualification points ahead of the Track World Cup.

There are still a very limited amount of tickets available for the Saturday night session, which can be purchased here or by calling 0843 208 0500.
