Vuelta a Espana 2014: stage four – rider reaction

Giant-Shimano celebrate as John Degenkolb takes stage win

If you ever doubted whether an individual stage win was truly celebrated by the team, the reaction of Giant-Shimano after John Degenkolb sprinted to stage four success will remove such suggestions.

Birthday boy Chad Haga, after leading Degenkolb out, celebrated by high-fiving the fans, while the team enjoyed the double post-stage celebration of a win and a birthday.

It was not just the Dutch team celebrating either, as Orica-GreenEDGE ensured another day in the red jersey.

Even in the face of team success – such as Chris Froome (Team Sky) enjoying another strong showing in the front group, there is still room for personal disappointment though.

Team-mate, British champion Peter Kennaugh, rued his amateur mistake of not eating enough as he was dropped by the bunch.
