Elite cyclo-cross racing set for The Cycle Show 2014

Equal prize pot on offer for men and women's races

Elite cyclo-cross racing will hit The Cycle Show this year, with an equal prize pot available in both the men and women’s races.

Set to take place on Sunday September 28, the races – organised by the Derby Cyclo-cross team who put on this year’s national championships – will start and finish at the show’s NEC Arena base.

Exhibitors including Condor, Hope, Raleigh, Kinesis and Pivot will be among the teams using the event to showcase their latest kit with former national ‘cross champion Paul Oldham (Hope Factory) and Matthieu Boulo (Team Raleigh) among the big-name riders already confirmed.

Experts will also be on-hand to offer advice about making the switch to ‘cross and Chris Holman, event director at organisers Upper Street Events, is delighted by its inclusion in the programme.

“It’s really exciting to be hosting cyclo-cross races at the show and arguably it’s long overdue given the growth in interest in the sport here over the past few years,” he said.

“Hopefully by showcasing cyclo-cross to a wider cycling audience we’ll help to develop that interest even more.”

The Cycle Show takes place at Birmingham’s NEC Arena and is open to the public from Friday September 26 to Sunday September 28 with some of the sport’s biggest brands exhibiting.

Adult tickets are priced at £13 per person, when booked in advance online, while children aged 14 or less can attend for just one pound with an accompanying adult.

RoadCyclingUK will also be at the show, manning the premium bike test track, and we have teamed up with the show organisers to offer discounted entry to all readers.

When purchasing tickets online simply enter the discount code RCUK to get your tickets for just £11.50 each.
