RIDE100 2014 series to launch next month

Events at 15 venues across the UK

Sportive riders are urged to ‘remember, remember the 5th November’ as the date marks the 2014 RIDE100 series launch by children’s charity Action Medical Research.

The series, which runs from April through to the end of September, features 15 events at cycling locations across the UK, with the Bath 100 and Peterborough 100 kickstarting proceedings on Sunday April 13, 2014.

All events feature either a mid-distance Classic route or a Champion route for more experienced sportive riders, while most also now offer the shorter Cool route for the inexperienced.

Keen riders can benefit from an ‘earlybird discount’ of 15 per cent, offered to those who sign up first, while it is possible to register your interest now to guarantee a place at the front of the queue when online registration goes live.

This year’s series will feature redesigned routes on the Glasgow 100 and Trossachs Ton, while the popular Suffolk Sunrise and Castle 100 both return.

New for the Trossachs Ton will be the ‘Double Duke’ – two ascents of the Duke’s Pass on the Champion route – while Classic riders will have to climb it once.

Glasgow’s new route incorporates the shires south of the city, notable for their lochs and rugged landscape.

The Suffolk Sunrise is a ride on the flatlands of East Anglia, while the Castle 100 features the challenging slopes of the North Downs.

Also back after debuting last year will be the Thruxton100 – a ride against the clock at the motor circuit of the same name – with RIDE24 also held over the same weekend.

Action Medical Research’s team support each event, with food and water stations, chip timing, marshals and mechanics.

Cyclists riding in support of the charity raise money to fund medical research to help save and change the lives of sick and disabled babies and children, with more than £500,000 raised at this year’s series.
