Documentary celebrates Herne Hill Velodrome – watch the trailer

Herne Hill Velodrome’s been given a fresh lease of life after the the new track was unveiled last month – but it’s been a long and hard road for the south London cycling mecca.

A new documentary, The Best Seat in the House, is set to celebrate the velodrome’s history, charting its path from the 1948 Olympic Games to the modern day fight to keep the track open.

Here’s the blurb…

“A documentary about Herne Hill Velodrome. The track has known some hard times with its main building now closed-down due to deterioration and political feuds that stopped any long term redevelopment.

“This is the back drop to a series of moving interviews with cycling enthusiasts ranging from a 1948 Olympic medallist to eight-year-old track users who all want the track to stay open.”

The documentary will be screened at London’s Look Mum No Hands cafe on Saturday October 8 at 7pm.
