A must for any seasoned winter cyclist, the overshoe is crucial for anybody heading out in the winter, offering warmth and waterproof protection from the elements. However, the nature of the beast – being regularly pulled, of course, over shoes and having to endure regular walks from bike to coffee shops mean they should be treated as a disposable item. Therefore, a new pair for Christmas will offer a timely and much-appreciated gift.
As ever, they come in many shapes and sizes but in our experience for the warmest, most weather-resistant material you can not go too far wrong with neoprene. Endura’s Equipe Superstretch Thermal Overshoe is a favourite of ours – our ‘go to’ shoe, which has served us well in freezing conditions in Belgium and the worst the British elements can throw at us. We have also recently put the dhb Extreme Weather Neoprene Overshoe to the test, and found it to be equally capable in the recent bad weather. At £34.99 and £29.99 respectively, there is plenty of change left over from both too – enough to pick up a book or two too.
