Lynskey have forged a hard-earned reputation as manufacturers of premium titanium frames and the Silver Series range looks to offer that quality at a more affordable price point.
The Silver Series was first unveiled last year but Core gave us the first opportunity to see the frames in the flesh and we thought it rude not to share our photos with you.
Five frames make up the range, of which the Peloton and Breakaway are for road riding. The Peloton is Lynskey’s long-distance machine, so the geometry has been relaxed, while the Breakaway is a little more aggressive. Both are made from 3Al/2.5V titanium and have clearance for 28mm tyres.
The Peloton and Breakaway are available in the UK as framesets only, priced at £1,000, so they’re fair candidates for riders who want to embark on a titanium build project which won’t break the bank.
Move up a level from the Silver Series and the Sport Series occupies the mid-range bracket in Lynskey collection, while if you step up another tier you’ll find the range-topping Pro Series bikes.
The Helix, Helix Disc, R450 and R350 make up the Pro Series range and all four frames now have a new integrated and tapered headtube for model year 2014.
A tapered headtube, which serves to improve front-end stiffness, is considered de rigeur on a carbon fibre frame, and aluminium and titanium frames are following suit, with the Kinesis GF_Ti V2 which formed the basis of this year’s RoadCyclingUK winter bike build another example of the latter.
The Helix pictured above is the most interesting frame in the Pro Series range. It’s a striking design which uses helixed tubes on the downtube, toptube and seatstays, and that, Lynskey say, results in a significantly stiffer ride than conventional, round titanium tubes.
