Drivetrain components and cables
Drivetrain components and cables
Such is the progressive nature of wear and tear, it’s often hard to tell just how badly your drivetrain may be worn until things start to slip.
For safety, not to mention the expense of replacing components, it’s best not to let it get to that stage before you replace your drivetrain parts.
If the chain is badly worn then there’s a good chance that you’ll need to replace the cassette as well, and possibly chainrings too.
While this can seem like a significant investment, remember that it’s this part of the bike that transmits all of the power from your legs into forward momentum, so you’ll want to keep it running as efficiently as possible.
Likewise, replacing brake and gear cables will have a dramatic effect on operational performance in this area.
You’ll be amazed at how silky smooth your bike feels again after some maintenance in this department.
