Cyclo-cross bikes seem to grow in popularity each winter as more riders discover the joy of breaking up long winter miles on the tarmac with some more enjoyable off-road adventures (witness the growing popularity of the so-called ‘gravel bike’).
The Genesis Fugio 853, frameset, however, looks capable of handling more than the occasional long route home.
The Reynolds 853 chassis is complemented by a full-carbon fork with a steerer tapering from a 1.5″ lower bearing. Unlike other members of Genesis’ 853 family (immediately notable for the green, black, and yellow paint scheme – a nod to Reynolds), the Fugio has an ‘outboard’, 68mm BSA bottom bracket, rather than an 86mm press-fit unit. Cables are routed externally, along the upper surface of the top tube, to keep them out of the mud.
The Fugio will be sold as a frameset, and will cost £749.99. It will be available in five sizes, from 52cm to 60cm.
