Lezyne Zecto Drive Pro LED light - first look
Combined front and rear light from stylish German-American brand
Fresh in from the gents at Upgrade Bikes is an intriguing LED light unit from German-American brand, Lezyne.
Lezyne have chosen to combine a front and rear unit, with a single LED taking rearward duties and two for front-facing use - the Zecto Drive Pro.
We’ll be interested to see at which end of the bike we end up using this intriguing unit, whose most obvious purpose is as an emergency all-rounder for use when our main lights run out of charge.
Winter will of course offer more demanding test conditions, but there have already been occasions this summer when we would have been glad to have had the Zecto Pro light with us: missions on which the pleasure of summer riding has overridden our better judgement on when to turn for home.
The Zecto Pro is, ahem, light at 51 grams, and compact at 45mm square and 25mm deep (excluding the clip), and fitted with a neat micro USB port for recharge (cable provided).
It has other notable and well-considered design features: the built-in clip, for example, that also provides the base for the attachment of the rubber mounting strap.
Long-term Lezyne users will not be surprised to find a full range of modes. If used as a front light, the rider will have access to two constant modes and four flashing, with an output of 160 lumens; used as a rear light, the Zecto Pro offers two constant and three flashing modes.
We’ll find out in the weeks ahead if the two side-mounted lenses might offer more than a modicum of extra illumination, but we can say already that they double neatly as battery charge indicators.
We’ll also be testing the claimed run times: between two and five hours for front use, according to Lezyne, and between 3.45 and 6.30 for the rear.
