The Rapha Pro Team Base Layer is also available in the ‘Data Print’ design, in both a short sleeve (£50) and sleeveless version (£45).

Like the rest of the Pro Team range, the base layer is described as having a ‘race-tight’ fit (Rapha recommend non-whippets order up a size if they want a more relaxed fit). The high-stretch side panels helps achieve the close fit, while the rest of the base layer is made from a synthetic mesh. This is a piece for warm-weather riding and the choice of fabric reflects that.

Both base layers are also available in white, with the front of the short sleeve version emblazoned with Bernard Hinault’s famous quote ‘Tant que je respire, j’attaque’, or ‘As long as I breathe, I attack’, while the sleeveless base layer reads ‘Una scalata superba’, which translates from Italian to English as ‘A superb climber’.
