Rapha Climber’s shoe (£280)
First announced at the start of the year, the Rapha Climber’s Shoe is now available.
Representing the London-based brand’s second collaboration with Giro – the shoe is built around the footwear manufacturer’s EC90 SLXII carbon fibre sole – the Climber’s shoe has been designed for riding in the mountains, with low weight and ventilation top of the agenda.
Mesh-backed synthetic leather is used for the heavily perforated uppers to improve breathability but, Rapha say, also plenty of strength for out-of-the-saddle efforts.
Three low-profile velcro fasteners complete the shoe to keep things simple on top, while the aforementioned carbon-fibre sole combines low weight and minimal stack height to offer enough stiffness to attack when the summit comes into view.
