Sportful Fiandre Light Wind Jersey
The Fiandre Light Wind Jersey combines a water resistant Gore Windstopper 4-Way Light fabric on the front with Sportful’s NoRain water repellent fabric on the back. The NoRain material is fleece-lined to add some additional insulation but it’s an ‘open’ fabric so maintains breathability.
“In Flanders you might have persistent light rain, or it might rain for 20 minutes and then clear up, and the jersey strikes a balance between keeping you dry and warm but not overheating,” says Smith.
Our time in the Fiandre Light WS Jersey so far has been limited to a three-hour ride in Belgium and, despite the best efforts of Sportful by hosting the launch event in late October, we enjoyed dry weather, but temperatures dipping down to seven degrees provided a good initial test of the jersey’s insulation and, worn over a long sleeve base layer, we maintained a warm and comfortable core temperature when both ticking along in a group on the flat and when working significantly harder on the cobbled climbs of Flanders.
The fit, meanwhile, is slim as you’d expect by a pro-inspired collection with an excellent cut. Like the Fiandre Light WS Jacket there are three rear pockets and a full-length YKK Vislon waterproof zip.
Sportful say the Fiandre Light Wind Jersey offers the protection of a jacket with the fit and cut of a jersey. We can certainly vouch for the latter and will find out if the former is the case once we have more miles in the bank.
