We took RCUK reader Rob Davis along to Revolution 11 for his first taste of international track racing. We asked him to give us some first thoughts on the event...

Was this your first experience of track racing?

It was our first time at track racing, I've seen it on TV (Olympics) but that was about it. A lot of events you attend you get carried away by the spectacle, this was no exception. The fitness, speed and tactics of the riders surprised us both.

Did it inspire you to give it a go?

Am I inspired to try track racing? Yes. Maybe I didn't get it at first, bikes were supposed to be ridden around trails and roads. I didn't think that being confined to a track would be any fun. Maybe I was wrong.

What was the highlight of the evening for you?

The highlight was definitely Wiggins vs. McGee followed by the Madison time trial. Oh and that guy on the motorbike-strangely amusing but very cool.

What would you say to people who haven’t yet made it to a Revolution?

Go to a revolution event. You'll get a great nights racing with a good, friendly atmosphere. We intend to go to the next event with the kids aged ten and six.

The national papers and television don't support cycling as a sport. Revolution is an excellent event and if enough support is shown then hopefully there will be more positive media coverage.

If you haven’t yet made it to a Revolution this year, you’ve got one more chance. The series finale will take place on 18 Feb 2006 and there’s plenty of time to get tickets.
