A look at the rise and rise of Welsh cycling

It is little wonder Wales has become such a hive of cycling success when you consider British Cycling and Team Sky’s supremo Sir Dave Brailsford was raised in the country and speaks the language.

Although born in Derbyshire, Brailsford grew up near Caernarfon where he first got on a bike before becoming arguably one of Britain’s greatest ever coaches.

His work behind the scenes has transformed Britain into the world powerhouse they now are, becoming the most successful track cycling team in modern history.

Twice a winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year coach award, Brailsford is arguably the greatest of all of Wales’ cycling exports.
