Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo)
The rouleur’s rouleur, Peter Sagan is perfectly suited to Gent-Wevelgem and has proved as much with three consecutive podium finishes – including victory in 2013.
The Slovakian champion broke his Tinkoff-Saxo duck at Tirreno-Adriatico and was just outside the podium places at Milan-San Remo to prove his form is coming.
Among the favourites for E3 Harelbeke too, backed by a strong team Sagan and his Tinkoff-Saxo team-mates have the ability to make all the running on the road to Wevelgem.
If crosswinds play their part, they have proved time and again they are among the best in the peloton in such situations and they have points to prove too after criticism of their early season form from team owner Oleg Tinkov.
High-profile winter signing Sagan is among those with most to prove, but the form book and his history in the respective races could mean he has two victories to his name by the time the long weekend is done.
