Marcel Kittel had a very public falling out with his Giant Propel at Tirreno-Adriatico 12 months ago after crashing as the sprint finish approached.
The German fast man, who had been among the favourites for the stage, tended to a minor wrist injury before body-slamming the bike into the tarmac in front of the watching TV moto.
Kittel later took to Twitter to declare his undying love for the bike, admitting they were just going through an ‘intense relationship’.
Kittel threw a bunch of roses into the bargain, and he clearly patched things up with his bike. Within four months he was piloting his Propel to victory in Harrogate to pull on the first yellow jersey of the 2014 Tour de France.
