Ed Clancy and James McCallum
It is not only in UCI World Cups and world championship events that British riders have shone in 2013. Rapha Condor JLT duo Ed Clancy and James McCallum fought off international competition to seal Revolution Series victory earlier this year at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Glasgow. Clancy’s performances throughout the series had put the London team in a strong position heading into the final round at the new velodrome, but with German team Rudy Project Racing still very much in the mix, there was plenty of work to be done.
Olympic champion Clancy and Scottish star McCallum ensured Rapha Condor JLT would not be denied with a strong showing on the Glasgow boards, however. After continuing his brilliant run of success in the flying lap, Clancy then took victory in the points race before the two combined to storm to madison victory, roared on by the partisan crowd, which all but guaranteed their overall win. And it was left to Clancy to seal it, the world and Olympic team pursuit champion finishing fourth in the scratch race to secure victory.
