Tour of Britain 2014 route announced: stage-by-stage analysis

Race director Mick Bennett dissects the 2014 Tour of Britain

Race director Mick Bennett: “Stage three and our second day in Wales. From the start in Newton it’s a short but lumpy stage through mid-Wales. There may be no Caerphilly Mountain this year but I’m sure all the fans, in their outrageous costumes, will find their way to The Tumble – a brute of a climb at six kilometres and averaging seven per cent. This will be a significant moment in the race and an early opportunity for someone to stake an early claim on the leader’s jersey.”
