Race director Mick Bennett dissects the 2014 Tour of Britain

Stage eight – Sunday September 14 – London

The final day is a split stage, with a time trial followed by a criterium (Pic: Tour of Britain)

Race director Mick Bennett: “Stage eight will include a time trial and road stage, which is part of our long-term pledge to include both a time trial and a summit finish in every edition of the Tour of Britain going forwards. For the first time since 2011 we will have a time trial on our iconic circuit in central London. At 9km it’s a short test, but one every tester will want to win, and it’s a stage which will decide the destination of the leader’s jersey. To conclude this year’s Tour, a ten lap race passing London’s world famous landmarks. It will no doubt end once again with a spectacular sprint on Whitehall outside Number Ten and with this year’s line-up we are confident of having an amazing array of sprinters battling for that final stage win.”
