The 2018 edition of the RCUK 100 has launched, showcasing the very best products from the world of road cycling.

Every product within the 100 has been hand-picked by the RCUK editorial team, with each regarded as one of the best examples of road cycling technology currently available on the market.

Hours of work have gone into the latest iteration of the product bible – from state-of-the-art studio photography and a bespoke set of cinematic shorts, through to in-depth reviews explaining just why each item deserves its place in the 100. All of these components have been combined on the RCUK 100 micro-site to create a beautifully designed and comprehensive hub.

Now in its fourth edition, the RCUK 100 has been as hotly anticipated as ever within the road bike industry – it now viewed as the benchmark by which products are judged.

“The 100 is a celebration of all things two-wheeled, from top-of-the-range dream bikes to value-packed components"

This year’s list celebrates all things road and highlights some of the growing trends within cycling.

The disc-equipped bike is here to stay, with more and more manufacturers – from the big boys to the smaller independents – continuing to offer up disc-specific frames and components.

Another movement that has continued to gather pace in 2018 is that of gravel. Numerous adventure-focused rides have made this year’s list and it's left us thinking less quick release and more thru axle.

There are also a number of firsts in this year’s 100: Giro’s Empire E70 Knit shoes prove they are more than an anomaly of design, Shimano breaks cover with its first foray into the power meter market, those handlebars mean the Canyon Grail is in, while Donhou prove that steel is still very real with the DSS3.

There are also some old favourites that have been included once again - yet to be bettered - take a bow Park Tool, Garmin and SRAM for the ATD-1Edge 820 and Red eTap respectively; class-leading products that prove sometimes less is more.

"Over the past four years, the RCUK 100 has become the go-to product guide for discerning road riders,” said RCUK editor George Scott. “The 100 is a celebration of all things two-wheeled, from top-of-the-range dream bikes to value-packed components.

Girona, the location of the RoadCyclingUK 100 video shoot is a paradise for road cyclists looking to train on smooth and quiet roads

“This year's videos were filmed in Girona – a bucket list destination for cyclists around the world – and have been presented in our bespoke digital hub alongside thousands of images – shot at Factory Media HQ – and countless words.

“The 2018 RCUK 100 is our best yet and we're proud to reveal this year's selections to the industry and readers alike."

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we've enjoyed putting it together.
