Fulcrum Racing Zero Carbon Wheelset 2015 Review

The polular Fulcrum Racing Zero aluminium wheelset has an enviable reputation for its low weight and reliability, and it’s now available as a carbon clincher, said to be both lighter and more aerodynamic than its metal counterpart. The Fulcrum Racing Zero Carbon is based around a 30mm-deep rim made from unidirectional carbon fibre with a wide, round profile, while a 3K carbon weave has been used on the brake track to improve longevity and the uniformity of the stopping surface.

The Fulcrum Racing Zero Carbon is the first wheelset on the market to combine a carbon rim with aluminium bladed spokes (16 laced radially at the front, 21 laced in Fulcrum’s Two-to-One pattern at the back) and aluminium spoke nipples, and Fulcrum say that combination increases its rigidity and improves the dispersion of force across the wheel. Claimed weight for the Racing Zero Carbon is 1,358g, while it’s also available as a tubular (1,268g).
