Integration is at the heart of the LOOK philosophy. The company which invented the clipless pedal in 1984 launched its latest flagship machine, the LOOK 795 Aerolight, in July 2014 with a bold claim – “the most aerodynamic road bike ever built”. The frame, which uses tube profiles emanating from the US National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, is the subject of 11 patents and home to a number of proprietary technologies, including the integrated ‘Aerostem’, an ‘Aerobrake’ housed within the structure of the fork (the direct mount rear brake is placed behind the bottom bracket), the vibration-dampening ‘E Post 2’ seatpost and the super-stiff ‘ZED 2’ one-piece crankset.
It’s also one of the most striking machines of 2015 – love it or hate it, it’s sure to turn heads. The frame is available in a second version, the 795 Light, which has conventional fork and seatstay-mounted brakes which will appeal to racers who demand quick wheel changes. Prices for the 795 Light start from £5,999, while the LOOK 795 Aerolight featured is £8,999.
