Specialized S-Works Allez 2015 Review

The Specialized S-Works Allez is perhaps a case-closing example that aluminium is more than capable of mixing it with carbon fibre as a material from which to fashion a high-end, performance-focused bicycle frame. Yes, the polished aluminium chassis of the S-Works Allez is achingly beautiful but it’s not short of technology, either, and the seamless SmartWelds are an example of just how sophisticated aluminium manufacture has become in a frame which weighs only 1,050g.

The Specialized S-Works Allez, the first aluminium chassis to command a place in the top-tier of the Specialized range for more than a decade, is available as a frameset only for £1,500 but this £7,000 machines comes equipped with Shimano‘s flagship Dura-Ace Di2 groupset, with the exception of Specialized’s own S-Works carbon crank and CNC-machined chainrings, as well as Specialized finishing kit and the firm’s Roval Rapide CLX 40 wheels shod with the supple S-Works Turbo tyres.

Price: £7,500
