Sunday August 30 – Roof of England Sportive
With the Etape Pennines not being run this year, the Roof of England sportive offers another chance to ride the stunning North Pennines moors.
The Bank Holiday sportive – for which online entries close at midnight on Wednesday August 26 – has three routes on offer across the undulating Teesdale and Weardale countryside.
Limited spaces are available on the day, with routes of 30 miles (‘surprisingly steep’), 50 miles (‘beautiful and do-able’) and 90 miles (‘epic) on offer.
The 90 mile “Winking Sheep” course boasts more than 9,000ft of climbing and while there are no closed roads, the routes are fully signposted with marshalls, food stations a broom wagon and mobile mechanics.
Entry: £25
