You can have the best machine in the business but if you are not positioned correctly then you are on a hiding to nothing.
With bike sales booming, more and more people are turning to a professional bike fit with many local bike shops investing in the equipment and expertise required.
Several different systems are in operation, such as the Apex Bike Performance or Retul – the latter being used by British Cycling among others.
Sorting out crank length, saddle height and your drop and reach can help avoid injury and also make your training more efficient – key cornerstones if you are planning towards a big summer event.
A professional bike fit is not cheap, however – though the benefits are undoubted – and British Cycling head physio Phil Burt has looked to address the issue by releasing a book on the subject too.
