Dragon Tour - June 5-7
The Dragon Ride, one of the UK’s ‘bucket-list’ sportives, continues to reinvent itself with the three-day Dragon Tour added to the billing for 2015.
Following last year’s introduction of the brutal 302km Dragon Devil, the south Wales sportive now has an even more challenging arm thanks to the climb-laden Tour.
Day one covers 101km, with 1,015m of climbing, including ascents of Mumbles and Swansea’s famously short-but-steep Constitution Hill.
Saturday, meanwhile, will see 1,056m of climbing over the course of the 96km ride, which takes in Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons, climbed on the opposite side to the traditional Dragon Ride route.
There are sure to be some tired legs by the end of day two, leaving riders with the choice of all five Dragon Ride routes on day three (the day of the main event itself).
But in the spirit of making things as tough as possible, we’re pointing you towards the 226km Gran Fondo route or, for the truly mad, the 302km Dragon Devil to top off three very hard days in the saddle.
