Tour de Yorkshire Ride – Sunday May 3
Hot on the heels of the announcement of this year’s inaugural Tour de Yorkshire, the route for the first Tour de Yorkshire Ride sportive has also been unveiled.
Offering the chance for amateurs to ride the roads set to feature on the three-day race’s undulating final stage just hours before the pros, the sportive is likely to be one of the most popular of the year.
Three distances are available – 50km, 100km or 140km – while a women’s only Cycletta event will follow the 50km route.
The sportive rolls out of Roundhay Park in Leeds and takes in Sowerby Bridge, the Cote de Oxenhope Moor – a 6.7km, near continuous ascent – and the cobbles of Haworth. The long and medium routes also take on the Cow and Calf climb and the short-but-steep Black Hill Road.
Human Race, organisers of the Wiggle Dragon Ride, will be backing the event and chief executive Nick Rusling says: “For sportive riders of all abilities – this will be an experience you won’t forget.”
