Vaughters is an American former pro-cyclist and current manager of the Garmin-Sharp team. As a rider he was a talented climber beset by injuries and unfortunate crashes during his career.
In the decade since his retirement he has been a successful team manager, his greatest success came in 2011 when Garmin-Cervélo won the Team Classification competition under his leadership. In 2009 he was elected president of the International Association of Professional Cycling Groups, he has used this position to voice his opposition to doping and fight for the cycling teams that make up the tour.
