Four weeks until Nomads Going Beyond Charity Cyclo-Sportive

11:55AM Fri, 18th May 2012

The Nomads Going Beyond Charity Cyclo-Sportive returns for its second edition on June 17, offering a new 80-mile route in addition to last year’s inaugural 80km course.

The sportive was added to the calendar in 2011 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Hitchin Nomads cycling club and the event is back for 2012, starting and finishing at Hitchin Rugby Club.

“The course received particularly positive feedback in 2011, with a beautiful mix of quiet country roads, a few steady climbs, generally rolling countryside and some stunning views thrown in for good measure,” the organisers told us. “It certainly put paid to the rumours that there are no hills in East Anglia.”

The sportive raises funds for Teach Africa, a charity setup to provide schooling for some of the brightest children from the Nairobi slums.

The short route will feature one feed station – stocked with water, sports drinks, Jelly Babies and the cake – while the long course will have an additional stop. Free tea, coffee and snacks will be available at the finish.

Entry costs £22 for the 80km course and £25 for the 85-mile route. Visit www.gobeyondultra.co.uk/events/nomads_cyclo_sportive for more information.
