Want to write for RCUK?
RoadCyclingUK is the UK’s leading performance-focused road cycling website, here to give our readers the best advice on what to ride, where to ride and how to ride.
We regularly use freelance writers and are always on the look out for new contributors. If that’s you – yes, you – then we want you to get in touch. If you’re passionate about road cycling and want to join our review team, have a compelling article idea, or anything else you think would make for great content, then here’s how to make it happen.
Unfortunately, we rarely accept news submissions from freelance contributors – in this online world, news rarely stays new for long.
If you think you have what it takes to join our review team, then contact us with details of your expertise and either a link to a previous example of your work or a draft of a product review relevant to RoadCyclingUK.
We welcome feature submissions on a range of topics, including gear, the sportive scene, where to ride, racing, fitness, technique, maintenance and nutrition. If you have a feature idea, then pitch it to us!
Your pitch should contain a short paragraph with a concise summary of what your article will entail, why it’s relevant to our readers, why you’re the right person to write it, and, if relevant, details of any potential interviewees. Ideally, also include one or two links to previous examples of you work and an idea of a potential headline for your story.
How to grab our attention
First of all, if you want your pitch to grab our attention, make sure you are familiar with RoadCyclingUK and what we cover. What sort of stories will we – and, most importantly, our readers – be interested in?
When pitching a feature idea, the angle is key. What makes your story different to what’s already out there? Why will it grab the attention of our readers and why will they care? What’s the best way to present your piece – as a listicle, interview or longform feature?
Do you have an insight into the latest training technique or the best road cycling destinations? Do you have your finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest tech trends? Are you at the heart of the sportive scene or do you have a unique take on WorldTour racing? We want to hear from you.
If you’re a budding writer with limited published work, don’t worry. If you have a great idea then we’ll still listen – just make sure your pitch is polished.
