Condor 2008

Following the launch at the London Cycle Show, we nipped round the corner to take a closer look at the 2008 Condor range.

It’s been a long time since Condor started making their own frames, but the Diamante brings the range rushing up to date. Condor work extremely closely with Italian-based tubing manufacturer Dedacciai for their top-end frames, with this particular model being built specifically to celebrate Condor’s 60th. They couldn’t have designed a prettier, more head-turning bike for the occasion. With its integrated seat tube and full carbon frame and Condor’s latest curvy fork, the bike looks stunning. It’s been painted in Team Mackeson colours too. Prices start at £2,099 for a Veloce equipped bike up to £3,399 with Record, or £3,099 with Dura-Ace.

Leggero

If you think you can pull off a decent Dean Downing impression, the team edition Leggero is for you. This is the bike the Rapha/Condor/Recycling.co.uk sqaud will be basing their racing campaign on next year and, while the frame draws similarities with the Diamante, there’s subtle differences to the design, most notably foregoing the integrated seat tube. Prices start from £1,899 rising to £3,199. As well as the Rapha/Condor colours, its available in a less-attention attracting red or blue.

Baracchi

If you’re looking at this photo of the Baracchi and thinking “it looks nothing like the 2007 model,” then you’d be right. The frame has been totally redesigned, making it lighter and now better value, with prices starting at £1,199.

Squadra

Upgrades to the Squadra see the rear triangle being updated with Drive Tail chain stays and Drive Box seat stays stays. Available in black with red or yellow decals.

condor moda side lo Condor 2008

Moda

My love of titanium frames is no secret, and the Moda is one of the sweetest I’ve seen in a while, with some exquisite etched lug work. Prices start from £1,899, topping out at £3,199.

Acciaio

There’ll always be a demand for steel frames, and the new Acciaio aims to fulfill that demand. Finishing is exceptional with classly decals finishing of the two colour options beautifully. Starting at £948, the bike would make a perfect second bike or one for the sportives maybe…

condor pista side lo Condor 2008

Pista

Commuters and messengers alike have been buying up the singlespeed/fixed Pista in their hundreds, and they’re an increasingly popular sight around London and other major cities. The Pista is available in Gloss Black, Deep Blue and Grey for 2008, with new Condor wheelsets and Condor branded cranks. £699.

condor tempo side lo Condor 2008

Tempo

Like the Pista but want to be able to fit mudguards? The Tempo is all but identical to the Pista, but takes 28mm tyres and mudguards. The geometry has been tweaked to be more similar to that found on the Fratello. £699.

Fratello

The best selling model in Condor’s range, the Fratello only sees minor changes. A new Dark Grey paint finish, revised decals and better specs make the Fratello a perfect buy for the winter. Prices start from £749.
