The Dave Rayner Fund is marking its 20th year with a high-profile guestlist for its annual dinner at Leeds’ New Dock Hall on November 8.
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lizzie Armitstead, David Millar, Ben Swift, Scott Thwaites, Russell Downing and brother Dean will all be attending the anniversary dinner of the fund.
Set up in memory of former British professional Dave Rayner, the fund has provided more than £600,000 in grants to help Brits race abroad.
Millar was among the first beneficiaries of the fund, while more recent recipients include Adam Yates, who has enjoyed a stunning debut season with Orica-GreenEDGE.
Millar, who retires at the end of this season, will be among the speakers, reflecting on his career and the importance of the fund.
Interviews will also be conducted by Anthony McCrossan with some of the recipients, while an auction will take place featuring memorabilia donated by some of cycling’s biggest names.
The dinner is part of the efforts to raise money for the the Fund, which was set up in 1994 after the former national junior road race winner’s tragic death.
Rayner had previously spent two years riding for Jan Raas’ Buckler team, with the Fund set up to help other young British pros hoping to follow a similar path.
Tickets for the dinner, which are available at www.daveraynerfund.co.uk/dinner, are open to all those with an interest in the sport, while accommodation can be booked here.
