Mmm. Divided opinion then? There are so many different slants on the helmet debate I find it hard to voice a strong opinion either way myself. I now wear a helmet all the time, this was prompted by seeing a rather nasty bike crash involving a serious head injury – I have no doubt that in this case his helmet saved his life.
However, there is a valid argument to say that compulsion would result in falling UK cycle usage. Yet in Spain and Australia, where they already have helmet laws, they do OK for cyclists. Yes I know they have great weather to compensate having to wear one but… these debates can continue on the forum.
