New British firm Hunt Bike Wheels have revealed their full line-up for the year. The Sussex-based brand, who we previewed in January, have released a four-wheelset line-up, all of which are tubeless ready.
Top of the range is the Race Season Aero Wide Road wheelset (£459). They feature 31mm deep, 24mm wide rims and have a claimed weight penalty of 1,480g. Designed to be ridden with a 25mm or even 28mm tyre, Hunt claim that the wide profile of the rims will open out tyre profile and increase grip.
Another race-ready offering is the £399 Race Season Aero Road Wheelset. Weighing in at a claimed 1,420g, they’re 28mm deep, 22mm wide and are bound by 20 front and 24 rear aero spokes. That’s all built around Hunt’s own Race Season hubs which feature EZO high precision sealed cartridge bearings, which Hunt say combine performance quality with durability – a feature they emphasise across the wheel range.
Further down the range is the 4Season Aero Road wheelset. Coming in at £279 they feature the same 28mm deep, 22mm wide rims as the Race Seasons, but weigh in at a heavier 1,589g. That extra weight comes from an even more durable set of hubs and spokes, designed for all-year round performance, not just summer riding. Both of these wheelsets have been constructed with excellent attention to detail, as seen in the stainless steel springs used in the QR skewers – designed so they won’t rust no matter how poor the conditions when you’re out riding.
The Mason X Hunt 4Season Disc wheelset (£379) is the final in the range, so named because Hunt collaborated with Dom Mason, formerly of Kinesis, who now runs Mason Progressive Cycles. They weigh in at 1,585g – although that will obviously increase when the discs are mounted – and have a 27mm deep, 23mm wide rims with a 17mm internal width.
As a nice little extra, all wheels in the range can be specced with Schwalbe One tubeless tyres for an extra £90, and tyres will be fitted and filled with sealant before they’re shipped, saving you the hassle.
