Council asks for help with cycle safety initiative

If you’re a Devonshire cyclist who can spare time to help your local school increase the number and safety of children cycling to school, then Devon County Council would like to hear from you. The council’s Road Safety Team run courses for pupils to ensure they are road safety aware before they take to the streets, but supply is falling far short of demand and they need cyclists willing to give up some time to become instructors and then help teach the courses to children.

Anyone over 18 can take the one-day course covering theory and practical training and on completing the course you’re licenced to run cycling safety courses for the next three years. The courses run from 9.30am to 4.30pm (see below for dates and locations).

So if you’re able to help then contact the Road Safety Help Desk on (01392) 446124 or email
[email protected]to reserve a place on a course or find out more. You can also find more details on Devon Council’s website.
